Kristen Zang

Kristen Zang is a model and actress.  She is probably best known for once dating actor Leonardo DiCaprio.  Seriously, this chick doesn't even have a Wikipedia Page.  While she is mentioned on DiCaprio's page, that's about it.  There isn't a lot out there about Kristen Zang, but let's see what we can find.

Zang was born on June 22, 1974 in Michigan.  Her parents divorced when she was very young, but they ended up getting remarried.  Kristen is one of five children.  She moved to Los Angeles at age 17 to pursue a modeling career.  Her first acting job was in the movie Love and Sex and she also appeared on an episode of Dharma and Greg in 2001.  Her most recent roles were in Hollywood in 2006 and Opposite Day in 2009.  Yes, Paulie Shore is apparently still in movies, even if they are unknown, direct to DVD titles.

Zang is known (if at all) for several of her romantic relationships.  When she was 16, she sent a photo of herself to the band INXS before they played a concert in Detroit.  This got her a backstage pass, which apparently is all it takes when you are attractive.  Zang said that this led to a relationship with Michael Hutchence, lead singer of the band.  The representative for Hutchence denied the relationship, but Zang still ended up getting some fame from it whether it happened or not.  This was all in 1991.  Hutchence died in 1997, by the way.

Zang then moved on to Nicolas Cage in 1992.  Today, we know Cage as the guy who never saw a movie role he didn't like.  This guy is in everything.  Well, everything that completely sucks.  When was the last time Cage was in a good movie?  I tried to watch Drive Angry and couldn't even sit through it all it was so bad.  It's clear the guy needs movie, so he is taking every movie role thrown his way.  He had a few hits back in the day, but he hasn't been in anything memorable for years.  Well, The Wickerman is memorable, but for all the wrong reasons.

Anyway, Zang and Cage dated until he proposed to her on her 19th birthday.  However, in 1995, the couple split when Cage dumped her and went on to marry Patricia Arquette.  Zang found out about the whole thing through a phone call from Cage.  She saw it as a good thing because she returned to New York and went back to modeling.

Relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio

Kristen Zang really got her name out there when she started dating Leonardo DiCaprio.  This occured in 1996.  Zang went from Nicolas Cage to DiCaprio by going on a vacation with him to Acapulco.  In 1997, Zang broke up with DiCaprio just a few months before the movie Titanic was released.  This is the movie that made him an even bigger star.  Zang said that he was too immature and that's why she dumped him.  However, this would not be the end of their relationship.

The pair apparently remained close despite their breakup.  So close that, in 1998, DiCaprio asked Zang to marry him.  Apparently one of the reasons they broke up the first time was due to his infidelity.  This time, DiCaprio promised to never cheat again is Zang said yes to his proposal.  She did not say yes to the marriage proposal, but they did get back together.  He one condition was that Leo had to promise to spend less time out partying and more time with her.  Seems like a fair request, but did it work?

Zang and DiCaprio stayed together for a couple more years until they broke up for the last time in 2000.  This meant that DiCaprio could go back to dating every top woman in the world while Zang would go on to do whatever it is she did, which seemed to be just dating celebrities.

The relationship between Leonardo DiCaprio and Kristen Zang was on again and off again.  Zang eventually got tired of Leo's annoying friends and a group of women that was known as the "Pussy Posse."  It was pretty much what you would think.  Mostly groupie type girls that would bring along other dumb girls to drink and party, most likely letting Leo do what he pleased with them.  Seems as if Leo could not mature and Zang just had enough.

There really isn't much else to say about Kristen Zang.  That pretty much covers her rather limited career.  That being said, how about I talk about one her exes, Nicolas Cage, for a moment.  Like I said, Cage hasn't been in anything good in a long time, despite being in nearly half the movies that come out.  He played Ghost Rider in the movie of the same name, which wasn't very good.  Despite this, he will reprise his role in the sequel, which is sure to make Ghost Rider fans give out a collective groan.  The Wicker Man was one of the most unintentionally funny movies of all time.  Just search "Nicolas Cage bees" on YouTube and you will see what I mean.

Despite roughly a decade of crap, Nicolas Cage has actually been in some good movies.  Some of his best works include Face Off, The Rock, Con Air and Raising Arizona.  Even Gone in Sixty Seconds was decent for people that liked cars.  For some reason, everything else Cage has done has been pretty bad.  Maybe if he had stuck with Kristen Zang he would have been in some better movies.  I'm just grasping straws here.  It's bad when the whole theater groans about a movie preview as soon as Nicolas Cage appears on screen.  We are all familiar with his recent track record.  But, the guy needs money, so he'll take whatever role he can get, even if it's in a ridiculously bad film like Season of the Witch.
